But that’s why dig this simple-and-stylish solution: Cool Feet. They’re easily attached (and removable) feet that ‘snap’ on to your laptop with suction cups.

They raise up your laptop to provide a cooling airflow without the use of noisy fans. Plus, they give your laptop a comfortable lift and slight angle, making your laptop screen and keyboard easier on the eyes and the fingers.

If you grab a set of Cool Feet from Bluelounge for $12.99, you’ll get a pair of short feet and a pair of tall feet, giving you three options for propping up your notebook.

The Light On! system which purports itself to be a combination of sleek design and rugged function, appears to deliver well in both areas. Because the lights are powered by the motion of the axle, they don’t require batteries and after riders stop moving for several minutes, dim to one-fifth of their brightness. The super bright LED lights offer 180 degree visibility are waterproof and are created to be permanently mounted on the bike.

The idea for the Light On! system was born out of creator Brian Engelen’s night riding and bike commuting through the winters in Portland, Oregon which exposed him to plenty of tough riding conditions. It was because of riding in these conditions that he got the idea to start building bike lights in order to better conquer those challenges. In the words of Engelen, “the goal was to create an expedition grade bike light system that looks as good as it functions,” and judging by the design and the specs of these lights it seems he has done just that.

Would you invest in a permanent light system like Light On!? Have any other favorite lights to recommend to your fellow bike commuters?

You’d expect something with the moniker “Heritage” to just look pretty retro and not do anything else, but Revo’s Heritage is packed with interesting features, making it an interesting add-on to your pad. The Heritage is a sleek, vintage-looking device that is made out of wood and aluminum. It supports, DAB, FM, and WiFi radio signals. There is also an OLED screen, which is why this dock is so expensive in our opinion. It acts as a display from where you music is being streamed from. Streaming can be wireless from any PC or Mac.

It’s got a USB port, so you can just plug in a USB drive and start playing your tunes off it. Although it’s a bit expensive, it does come with all of the bells and whistles, and that 1960s design flair sure makes it distinctive from all of the other docks. You also get 7W of power, which isn’t too shabby. It comes with a multi-country power adapter, a free 30-day Last.fm trial subscription, and is available for $382 via Revo

That #55 Mailbox is an Apple Power Mac G4 (released in 1999) that’s been recycled and retrofitted to collect snail mail instead of email. (Via Gizmodo)

But we previously saw another graphite G4 Tower that got turned into a street side mailbox. The brilliant twist? Mail slips in through the disk drive! (Hot or Not?: A Mac Mailbox)

If you’re a PC, a closet Mac living in a PC neighborhood or you just like to be a neutral tech supporter, you can snatch up a generic computer mailbox. Although we’re not sure$229.95 is worth making your mailman smile. (Computer Mailbox Takes Geek Decor Too far)

If you want to show off your techie side without turning your mailbox into a computer, you can go the route of the Space Invaders mailbox. Take a cue from one crafty gamer as she hand-paints our favorite 8-but aliens onto her standard-issue mail bin. Bravo! (Space Invaders Bring Intergalactic Warfare to Your Mailbox)

Or if you’d rather show your techie side by being high-tech, get yourself a mailbox and house number that lights up through the night thanks to solar power it collects during the day. (Your Address is Illuminated with a Solar-Powered Mailbox

What is unclear is whether the USB Sofas offer wireless connectivity between each user or just access to individual drives in each of the chairs. It’s a keen concept about hiding storage away and truly incorporating it into home decor, an inspiration for a DIY project with some old external hard drives and some flea market furniture for those of us who have guests who like to plug in and get work/play done while visiting.

Handcrafted using cultivated sustainable woods and carved, sanded and polished to a shiny finish using linseed oil and carnuba wax, and built from the finest electronic components (1600 dpi, 1 million rated clicks), there’s no doubt that AlestRukov takes mouse making seriously. We’re definitely diggin’ the red cable - it reminds us of some headphone mods we’ve seen around on the Internets lately.

Of course, with such luxurious attention to detail, you can expect a hefty price to mach it. Prices range depending on the type of wood you choose (Bubinga, Makor, Sapele, and Ebony woods are some of the many options available). The cheapest wood (well, if you could even call it that) comes in at about $996 while the more expensive woods will run you around $1281. Oh, and while you’re there, be a kind lad and send us some 60-inch flat panels from our offices, will ya?

Designed by Caroline Schilling, the Spotlights lamp “is a lamp for the growth of plants in urban inadequate.” Well, that’s as much as Google Translate will let us know. But could it really be good for plants?

This Web page tells us that artificial lighting from light bulbs is enough to start seedlings in spring and even be the sole source of light for low- to medium-light plant varieties as they grow larger.

But as a single light source for plants, incandescent light bulbs are not particularly good. They can’t provide the full spectrum of rays plants need and can often produce too much heat. Fluorescent tubes are a better option for anyone looking to keep plants going indoors.

So if you’re looking to grab one of the Spotlight lamps to keep your palm happy and fresh (Contact designer Caroline Schilling via email), make sure you pop compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) in there.

Actually, the Gyrofocus fireplace isn’t just the world’s most beautiful fireplace, it’s been voted the world’s most beautiful object by the World’s Most Beautiful Object 2008–2009 in the Pulchra design competition. This design competition is the first beauty contest exclusively reserved for objects, whatever that means. Needless to say that this is one incredibly beautiful fireplace. Its look will polarize opinions about its design.

Gyrofocus is made by the French fireplace maker Focus. It can pivot 360° and has been exhibited in several contemporary museums, including the prestigious Guggenheim. We are a bit in awe of this design. It’s amazing. For it to work well, you’d need a massive space though, with really high ceilings.

The Bosch Classic fridge has been revamped. It’s got a new interior and new colors, so that it can match your kitchen design better. Stainless was cool, but vintage is now in. The Bosch refrigerator has got a compact and bulgy shape, including rounded corners and the iconic chrome handle. This fridge blends in something new into a design that never really went out of date. This fridge has existed in some form since 1949. It has survived fickle design trends and consumers.

Some of you design-centric readers may know Marc Newson 1987 design, ‘Super Guppy’ Floor Lamp. Apparently Newson’s design was the inspiration for this street light derived floor lamp, despite the vast different in scale. It’s that scale that gives this design a disconcerting proportional presence…like a floor lamp seen through the eyes of David Lynch (The Merrick Lamp?)…

Case-Real design studio founder, Japanese designer Koichi Futatsumata, recently designed a stunning vacuum tube amplifier for the electronics manufacturer Elekit. Elekit is know for making affordable high-end audio equipment that’s usually available in kit form, meaning that you have to do the assembling yourself. The idea was for Futatsumata to design an amp that would be sold ready-assembled to appeal to a younger market.
